In this first module of the Combat Sport Coach certification program, you will learn the most fundamental aspect of coaching: the impact you have on your trainees, and the conscious and unconscious ways you influence. You’ll get clear guidelines to establish rapport and structure participation that minimise uneasiness. You’ll see behind the myth of learning styles, understand how the concept of mindset oversimplified, and discover the significance of attribution styles.
You’ll discover how trainees pick up and incorporate cues, and how your expectations have a greater impact than your words. You’ll also learn about stereotype threats and reflect on prejudice and will leave this module with a clear understanding of what a coach is at its best.

This module provides a summary sheet of different types of prejudices, highlighting protected characteristics, to assist you in becoming culturally sensitive and reflective.
Being recognised as trustworthy.
Coaches who understand their clients’ context and make them feel seen and heard are highly trusted. The higher level of disclosure it brings along, makes their coaching more customisable and efficient.
Ability to work with diverse people.
Stepping beyond their own context is what makes a coach coach. It’s an ability that allows for supporting individuals with personalities or builds different from the coach’s, opening the door for a much bigger audience.
Be distinguished by attitude.
Refined attitudes and genuine consideration of others are recognised from miles away and make the coach immediately stand out and remembered for their understanding of people.
